“Apenghe - Il figlio della Luna”

Alessia Mocci (isideprussiana@hotmail.it)

Apenghe smiled, he suffered in complicity with his brother, with whom he shared the same womb, with whom he had spoken without words when their hearts were formed.

Apenghe, the main character, smiles with his brother that separated at birth because they could see because of diversity of Apenghe. The complicity of the twins is manifested from the first glance though seven years have separated the two.

Apenghe - The son of the Moon is a short novel published by the publishing house Editions Mutable Rupe in 2008, in the series "Atlantis." The author is a poet and writer Rosa Mauro, who with his poetic work has achieved significant results in prestigious awards. Rosa Mauro is the author of several volumes and varied: Bora Bora , magic of a trip , Beyond the desert, Esmeralda Avatar , Katier , Once Upon a Time in Africa , Imperfecta , The tale of life, Singin Mars, between fantasy and reality , Land of the songs , A song for John .
Apenghe - The son of the Moon consists of the foreword by Dr. Carla Mauro, eight chapters and an epilogue for a total of 99 pages. There is no single narrative voice but many voices many characters, each has something to say, everyone sees reality differently, and feels he can tell the reader his life and his impressions on Apenghe.

The short novel is set in Africa and tells of a very special twins. Eve is pregnant and about to give birth, you see the future with a dream but does not speak with women who had to help her give birth to her children. Nzumbu born and Apenghe, twins very different. Nzumbu is now recognized as heir to his father Ndobo, while Apenghe there are qualifications. But why not Apenghe is similar to the twin?
The reason for the oddity that all experience is that the baby has a special feature that few humans have: the son of the Moon.

Being young does not mean the Moon to stand in the sunlight and thus live in a completely different from the rest of the family and village. Ndobo Eve and can not present both children to the community, lead, leaving only the pleasant Nzumbu Apenghe with Eve's sister, Angela. Angele knows the fate of small and decides to adopt him and care for it.

The son of the moon thus becomes the son of Angelo. Apenghe grows knowing the truth, but not interested in seeing his real parents that have so easily let go and have some curiosity about her brother. But the two live hours of the day different Apenghe can not stay under the sun and his life was spent the night, wanders into the forest with the darkness and solitude.

Apenghe still could not forgive her natural mother and did not want him talking Nzumbu. But sometimes Nzumbu stealing thoughts and words of his brother in his memory to be able to report back to her, when he found the courage to listen, especially when accompanied with the source.

from night fishing at night during the meeting the two brothers become inseparable and Nzumbu surrender a few hours of sleep to be with his brother, but the two could not talk about the family situation, past and present with confidence for both blocks Apenghe Nzumbu.
is a classic example of literary outcast who becomes elected: Apenghe that all was not initially want to become close with the passage of time a person useful to society and worthy of deep respect. Apenghe it also had the gift of being able to communicate with Death, also black as night and being able to accompany people dying quietly at the end of this earthly life.

death was wrong, after all. You can not help bring your spirit, but a man can still decide to die inside. She closes the door of his heart and spirit gradually hardens and mummification, as a dry leaf on a tree. I discovered in those days, and I welcomed that as the only way not to suffer.

Gli affreschi di Lorenzetti del Palazzo Pubblico di Siena: una visione eterna ed attuale della politica

Francesco Barresi ( ruutura@hotmail.it)

rate increasing, gag law, wiretaps are not allowed, indiscriminate cuts (Especially culture) and a government that is becoming increasingly obscurantist. Italian politics, you know, not a virtuous model in general. Too many laissez-faire , spintarelle, catch and secret agreements. The effects of bad governance have an impact on the quality of democracy, and the impression is a general strategy of destabilization aimed at making less transparent and virtuous Italian politics. But can the art by virtue of its "public function" show, in perspective, what are the effects of bad and good governance? Can art illustration shows the vices and virtues of a political allegory in a way, subtly rhetoric, but true?
look to Siena to query the policy. The former is probably able to give something back, to promote values \u200b\u200band virtues that reality is no longer able to explain. But they remain there, the virtues, in an ideal world, waiting to be reviewed and understood, introjected, perceived as a currency to spend in a lifetime. The art also has this feature: the memory of certain concepts must approach their
salutatio , their veneration. When an image is not perceived as more value it loses meaning: the image becomes a sign, something that inspires awe without lighting. Blame the images then?
Above left you can glimpse the dome of the cathedral that stands out for its unique duotone, and it is only the starting point for a theory of architecture that dominates the floor. At the center of a circle of people suggests a concord and harmony of the city, where no infringement disturbs the quiet life of the Sienese. Horsemen, craftsmen in the shops, merchants and workers self-importance in their work. Nothing upsets the order reached, all suggest a calm reached with the intelligence of a political virtue.
In 'Allegory of Good Government justice is enthroned on the left, guided by wisdom, with a large scale, and two angels symbols Civil and Criminal Law. Under Justice is sitting at a desk Concordia, a direct consequence of the first, which gives citizens the strings to move the scales of Justice. Good governance is symbolized by the old man at arms, protected by the three theological virtues (Faith, Hope and Charity), while the sides of the throne, on a seat covered with beautiful fabrics, laid in various poses are the personifications of Justice, Temperance, magnanimity, prudence, fortitude and Peace. Famous is the figure of Peace, half-reclining languidly in a pose sinuous, with a sprig of olive in his hand. The scene is used to list, with a strong commitment didactic, all the virtues in a ruler dovrebbe disporre.
La città è crollante e piena di macerie, dove regnano le azioni più turpi and violence for its own sake. Everything is upside down, antitentico, mirrors the positivity of the fresco above, applies the law of the animal, the feud, the only valid law is one of the strongest. There is a positive space that can be identified: only fear flying in the countryside to witness the wretched souls of those who dwell in hovels. There is a government, a law, a state upright and honest: politics is a stagnant swamp.
Ambrogio Lorenzetti could breathe new air. He well educated, intellectual, secular, not religious houses the paroxysm of his brother Peter, but his art is an enduring civic monument. The technique is a technique that had already been extensively tested in Italy (think of the Scrovegni Chapel by Giotto) and lends itself to the personality of each artist, which employs all the spaces of the wall as the paint surface. Lorenzetti of Siena is a man, you know that the Government of the Nine in Siena seeks to illuminate their office at a prestigious and active politics. Siena wants to compete with Florence, the Gothic is an expression of his political power and duotone black and white is a colorful pattern that has its roots in the tradition of Tuscan Romanesque. Lorenzetti is a Sienese artist who breathes renewed
civitas of his city, it interprets the desires and ambitions: Siena wants to dominate, Florence rivals, has the means to do so and wants to extend his rule, calls for the intercession of the Virgin as guardian of the policy and promotes the Gothic in Italy. There is no question then: Lorenzetti painted the city as an ideal model, he prevails in teaching and a willingness to objectively describe Siena, collective aspiration to manifest and to situate it in a broader vision. He is a painter who paints an object that has direct experience, describing it in the widest possible horizon (Note, for example, the contrast between the smallness of the figures and the vastness of space). The frescoes
strike us because of their size, for large conceptual and visual perspective but perhaps also for their contemporary, the actuality of the principles still valid and consistent. That any government has to govern with justice is a fact but we must look at the frescoes and denuded of their rhetoric, to grasp the profound message. The crisis which affects an entire society is never an isolated incident but it dates back to its roots when it is the fault of politics. Perhaps
watch this work of art will not serve to inspire the current leadership to rise to more healthy principles, but the vision of these frescoes is forward looking and present together: when politics degenerates effects are found and the company pays the consequences, because there is no effect without a cause, just as the fish stinks from the head. But an Italian in which of these two paintings would recognize the existing policy? Leading question, yes, but we should be assured that is not the fear that lingers in our countryside and not the harmony that governs our city. Two mirror visions of politics, two realities that confront policy: the frescoes of Lorenzetti will always be in their present and eternal truth, but remain invisible to those who would learn much from them.
But who will arrange a guided tour of our politicians, after we paid a lot of those things?

“La poesia? Sogno incarnato, sostanza immateriale … indispensabile”

Grace Calanna (graziacalanna@lestroverso.it)

Interview with poet Louis Carotenuto

stolen notes to life with the boldness of a balance that advances sull'impalpabile strand of the time. Intimate correspondence, poems of singular emotion. "It's raining cats and dogs on the way home," the sense of loss twists the perception of inadequacy and the spasm, which foolishly "barred the doors as if the light would serve to hide the night," domineering, "in identical so ever. " The Family Friend Luigi Carotenuto, published by proofs, scans the assumptions of classical versification which, this is the peculiarity of the collection, using the pulse genius of the poet, flourished again. So, in a universe separate from the tenacity of a "precarious" versatile, changes the meaning of pain, just now, food for the journey of fulfillment, besides individual unanimous. Agile flowing verse songs, pragmatic. Nevertheless, facing existence with the "dancing eyes" of those who, observing "butterflies" and "fly and love in two days, peacefully, melts ancestral doubts.
"Poetry - highlights Carotenuto - is a dream made flesh, transposition of emotion crystallized. Lives and dies with the man, will always be present even if depreciation as, is particularly in this historic moment. The present poem, apart from some exceptions increasingly rare, is more an attitude, a pose, a costume rude and ignorant that passes the more vulgar and mediocre prose (I think that many shopping lists are more poetic) to courtly versified . The newspaper is useless declamatory voice changes and a pseudo obscurity behind the patron god of darkness hides poetry of incompetence, lack of ideas and feelings, not the least, and perhaps more amateur and popular attitudes is void of sentimentality, banal, devoid of any sense of reality and enchantment detector (qualities of true poetry in my opinion), where sunsets, seagulls, loneliness, love and joy are combined in the manner of chain assembly and criminal, words are forced to "sense" only, without any permanent record ".

GC recall the words of John Keats: "If poetry comes not as naturally as the leaves on the trees, you better not even born" ...

LC "Poetry is, among other things, "Memory Damaged Life, "as Adorno said about art, and in this sense is story, and especially the interpretation of history, politics is never politicized, the only attitude that" political "in the original sense and higher, has a do with the air, being a close relative of the music, is singing along and thinking, open gates of light, darkness, and truth. Gushing jet sudden and uncontrollable, and even though many times requires labor file, comes from a revelation by a combination of words new, unusual, again we could say, at the same time, once created, the poetry does not seem to that could not be there, like the leaves on the trees in Keats speaks. "

GC Thinking of contemporary Italian poets, which do you prefer and for what primary reason?

LC "Among the contemporary poets so-called" official ", a term that is often only a synonym of the publishing house's most influential authors and literary contests and advertising in the tam-tam organization, the only real exception I believe in Italy is represented by Andrea Zanzotto, innovator and experimenter of poetic language that he knew and knows how to keep their lines in the high lyricism of classical poetry. "

GC Finally, a thought, that of Virginia Woolf, "is it true that poetry is delicious, in fact the best prose is full of poetry, "to ask, besides an opinion, if you'd like to dedicate the" poetic prose ".

LC "The poetic prose, ambitious ... but the writing can not schedule it too much if you plan to write with a degree of honesty, of course ideally I would like my prose contained lyricism, even without the lyrical element can not imagine even a good novel, I like this little proliferation authors of noir and crime writers, I see this passion for the reading, all the misery of mankind, the voyeuristic side connected to the gossip and the gossip, rummage no respect in the lives (and especially in the deaths) of others. And why do not you think about this death in human life? I get much more interesting to explore the meaning of our time, the sense of man, instead of collecting a series of events, beat "monsters" on the front page. The tragedy is not in the record, but in the ontological reasons that push the human being in this type of record, and this series of writers are responsible for the intellectual degradation because they do not, and many times not, conceptual elements on which to ponder readers.
